This is a somatic approach that intends to acknowledge the whole person (body, mind, spirit) in their erotic and relational exploration and growth, while making use of the somatic pillars of breath, movement, sound, touch and placement of awareness to bring about change.
The use of 'sex' here may bring to mind a very particular topic of inquiry, however I only use this language as shorthand - somatic sex coaching covers a broad variety of themes and issues relating to intimacy, pleasure, relationships, wellness, life transitions, and recovery, to name a few.
Coaching differs from my somatic counselling offering in that it is oriented around a vision, goal or learning objective, and can be more action- and skills-focused, depending on what you're coming with. However it is common for sessions to flow between somatic counselling and coaching approaches based on what is emerging and needed at the time.
As with any kind of somatic work, this offering is body-focused and practice-based, meaning we will engage the body in a variety of ways to support your learning, development and uptake of skills. I also make use of more conventional talk-based and cognitive-narrative approaches as needed, and will always meet you where you’re at.
Creating change is more about what you do between sessions than what happens in-session, so there will often be home practices for you to experiment with - the more attention, intention and practice you put in the faster you'll move towards your goals or vision of where you'd like to be.
As a trained Sexological Bodywork I work under the SSEAA Code of Ethics. This means that I remain clothed at all times in my work (clothing is optional for you), any erotic touch only happens in one direction, from practitioner to client, and only ever in service to the client, and gloves are worn for any genital touch.
In my practice I use touch sparingly as my focus is on supporting your own sustainable touch and erotic practice (where relevant), through self-touch and/or with the people in your life. For those looking for comprehensive hands-on bodywork I am happy to refer you to one of my trusted colleagues.
I don’t offer any kind of erotic hands-on work for those who first engage me through my somatic counselling work, but am similarly happy to provide referrals as needed.
