what is somatics?
Soma (body) = the living organism in it’s wholeness
Somatics is a holistic, body-based approach to change that values the wisdom of the physical and energetic body. This approach does not hold the body as distinct from the mind or any other facet of the self, but instead refers to the body (or soma) as the whole person.

that holds the body
Somatic Counselling is a holistic, body-based approach to emotional and psychological support that integrates the intelligence of the body into the therapeutic process.
It is a co-creative, client-centered process that moves at your pace, allowing for organic unfolding rather than pushing toward a fixed outcome.
Instead of focusing solely on talking or thinking through challenges, somatic counselling invites awareness of physical sensations, movement, breath, posture, and energy as meaningful expressions of experience and ways forward.
Broadly speaking, ‘somatics’ holds the body - or soma - as the living organism in it’s wholeness. The body is seen not just as something we have, but as something we are.
My particular approach to embodied counselling as a somatic practitioner is also informed by mindfulness practice, mind-body coaching tools, the latest science on nervous system regulation, and other therapeutic and somatic frameworks.
What to expect in a session
We may begin with a grounding exercise to support you to settle into the space and your body.
You can bring a specific intention, or we can follow what feels alive in the moment.
I will support you in exploring what arises—narratively, emotionally, somatically and beyond—encouraging curiosity, presence, and a deeper connection with your embodied Self.
We may use breath, movement, visualisation, sound and a variety of other somatic tools to experiment with and facilitate your process.
Toward the end, we will reflect on what emerged and explore ways to integrate the experience into your daily life through home practices or ongoing inquiry.
This work is not about *fixing*, or forcing change—it is about learning to listen, respond, and be in deeper relationship with yourself, allowing the natural next steps to emerge.
